Recently Israel has started testing a massive "Inflatable Missile Detection System" designed to detect threats at high altitudes. According to Israel's Ministry of Defence, this giant "blimp"-shaped system is the first of its kind.
It has been developed in collaboration with a subsidiary of state-owned Israel "Aerospace Industries" and US aerostat manufacturer "TCOM". Significantly, Israel already has a sophisticated missile defence system, which was successfully used during the 11-day Gaza war this year.
Israel has aggressively increased its military capability in recent years to counter potential threats from Gaza's militant Hamas rulers. And currently, Israel has the ability to attack the biggest cities of the world. Israel's Iron Dome defence system played an important role during the Gaza War.
Iron Dome Air Defence System
It is a short-range surface-to-air air defence system consisting of a radar and build interceptor missile that tracks and neutralizes missiles or rockets that attack Israel.
It is used to deter rockets, cannons, and mortars as well as aircraft, helicopters, and unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs).
It is capable of working in all weather including day and night. It has been developed by the state-run Rafale Advanced Defence Systems and Israel Aerospace Industries and was deployed in the year 2011.
